Getting there.

The travel.

Victoria to Vancouver then Vancouver to Sydney direct.

At present we are 2 hours out of Sydney.  Most passengers are asleep still, and a few like me, awake and occupying ourselves with something or other to pass the time.

Gratefully, we are travelling premium economy.  So, no beds as in business class but a little bigger and comfier seat to occupy for the duration.

Ordered the ‘diabetic’ meal.   Well, chicken breast was ok…. Once I seasoned it.  So many misconceptions regarding this condition. So, low salt, assuming everyone is also hypertensive. (High blood pressure)

However, the most important requirement of ‘low carb’ is missing.  3 large wedges of potato, Melba toast and a bun!  And….. margarine!  As that’s more healthy than butter! Not!

Glad I bought and ate most of, a subway salad before the flight so I didn’t have to rely on their idea of what I should eat.

Breakfast 🤢 potatoes!!! 🤯 egg whites, mushrooms, cooked tomato and spinach.   Fruit salad…. She tried to give me a bun and I told her to take it back as it would be a waste.

We actually had a good conversation about dietary restrictions as she has many.   So she understood. But of course she’s not the one making up the meals.  I’m going to contact Qantas  for the return trip and just get the regular meal….  Won’t be any more problematic and might have more flavour.

Watched the movie “My Penguin Friend”. Based on a true story.  Heartwarming.

Ken managed sleep better than I so he’ll be rested enough to get through at least our travel to the hotel and to eat before we need a nap!

Decided to take a taxi as trains required dragging bags around and several changes to get to our destination.   Then walk to hotel!   So…. Door to door for these old folks 😄

The view from the balcony of our room. 29th floor!

Hotel looked great.  Neil, front desk clerk was excellent.   There had been no one in our room the night before so our room was ready to go.  9 am we were in! So happy!  Unpacked and napped!  Then off to lunch and a grocery store.   More resting and another quick trip to the other grocery store for what we’d missed and an early night…..

Little sushi restaurant we ate at on Monday in our neighborhood.
