The botanical gardens and then the opera!

By mid afternoon we were feeling ok to go out. Since we had a concert to be at by 5 pm we decided to wander the botanical gardens beside the opera house.

Interesting trees and bushes to explore

In the area of the gardens there is a heritage building. Government house. Old and beautiful architecture.

I love old doors and windows.

A visit to Sydney would not be complete without a visit to the famous opera house.

Though we had seen the building from the ferry, on the way to Manly beach, we wanted to see something there.

With limited time in the city we chose “Great Opera Hits.” This is an evening (well it starts at 5 pm) of opera arias sung by Australian singers who are in the opera company.

1 each, soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor and baritone. accompanied by a talented pianist.

They expertly, and without the addition of microphones (unless they were introducing the next piece), sang many well known arias. The concert was in the Joan Sutherland auditorium, which was full of enthusiasts and those, like us who were keen to see something there while in the area.

We were not allowed to take pictures during the show. So I have just one of the stage beforehand.

The inside of the structure is also very interesting and unique

Bondi walk tomorrow so…. Time to rest!
