It seems I missed a couple of pictures I meant to share.
Our most special meal while on our trip was in Melbourne. I had researched and decided upon a place in the dockyards area called Butcher’s Prime. Interesting that it was well reviewed online but also one of the ones on the carts spoke of it when I said we were looking for good steak restaurants.
Tuesday nights are 20% off steak night, so very convenient as that was the night we planned to eat there. Since beef is quite expensive in Australia it was a bonus to have some monetary relief.
I had also been looking for somewhere which had kangaroo on the menu…. ‘When in Rome’ and all. This hit both our lists.

Ken’s steak was medium rare and served with mashed potatoes.
My kangaroo loin was cooked medium, to my liking and served with a Mediterranean salad.
Our server Charlotte suggested medium was the most they wished to cook the kangaroo as it is very lean wand would dry out and be tougher if cooked too much.
I enjoyed the flavour more than the steak. Of course we tried each other’s meal! It was flavourful but no strong gamey flavour.
Odd I never saw it on any other menu?! So I’m very glad to ordered it when I did.
The wine we chose was from a South Australia vineyard called Asher. Lovely wine which we hoped to see in a store and buy more, never saw again. Glad we enjoyed it when we did.

The ambiance added to the occasion and, though we took the free tram there, we decided to walk back to our hotel. Took us a while…. Much longer on foot than a quick tram ride. But a lovely warm evening so even that we enjoyed.
If you are a steak lover and in Melbourne I would recommend a meal there.
