Tour Day.

I will begin by saying, I don’t know how to make this blog private…. Not techie enough, so if I have readers who find this, I’m posting mainly for friends and family. Up to you to enjoy or not…

Today was a planned tour of the Australasia Branch of Jehovah’s Witnesses. It resides at Ingleburn in the suburbs of Sydney.

We have visited various Branches (Bethels) on our travels. This one holds a special interest because of what they are uniquely doing there.

Last summer at our conventions we watched the first 2 films of ‘The Good News according the to Jesus’. Beginning with his conception and into his childhood.

They are doing all the filming there at the Australasia Branch. In order to make these films (episodes really – 18 in all apparently) they have researched and built close as they can replicas of the villages and towns in Israel at the time Jesus lived there. I didn’t know they have 4 different styles of building and finishes, according to what they know was in the areas at the time.

As with all Branches, there is an area where they have memorabilia and pictorial history of Witnesses in that area. So when we arrived (with me, the one friend who is in Oz too, Ken was not well and unable to come 😢) we wandered the display and learned the history in Australia.

Good to know these efforts were made to aboriginal peoples at a time when they were oppressed.
Samoan language magazine as a backdrop
for us to have pictures taken.

We were driven out to a staging area to take pictures of the village. No pictures allowed as we were driven through.

The pile of rocks on the hill you can see is apparently there to hide the gum trees behind when filming. As… there are none in Israel 😊

Our group for the tour was about 12. From USA UK Canada, Australia and Brazil.

There was a connection with one that was amazing. She lives where I grew up and we know many of the same people. 🥰

Taxi to the train, 2 different trains and then home.

Wonderful day to that point. Medical issues after that but thankfully resolved!

The next day was a nothing, recovery day.

The next post will be of our walk from Coogee (spoken Coo Gee) to Bondi beach. A 6 km scenic coastal walk.

One response to “Tour Day.”
